Pinterest, captured my interest...

So as you know I'm doing the whole Elf on the shelf, but I ALSO am TRYING to do and activity advent calender, we are "doing" things instead of eating candy for our count down...each bag has a great idea in it, like "make and ornament" and some days it's a RACK- Random Act of Christmas Kindness, like bring coffee to your teacher....some days I'm but I'm going to admit time runs out, or I have a bratty 4 yr old who wants to throw a fit so we don't go see Santa, cause this mom just can't take another whining moment, that day, which in turns pisses off the 7 yr old, maybe the chocolate calender was really the way to go, cause at least when you forgot it a day the next day you has 2 pieces...oh well...lets see how the next 17 days go, and oh confession the Elf didn't move for the second day now...but this was in boycott to my 4yr olds aversion to getting dressed in the morning...anyone want him he's awful...cute...I kid...I'll keep him cause he really is a good kid mostly.

Things I just don't like...

Onions-yuck.
Radishes, beets-it's a shame because I like their colors.
Swiss cheese- Might be the ONLY cheese I just don't like.
Brussels Sprouts- Taste like Chemicals.
Grapefruit- Yup, think it's the ONLY fruit I can't stand.
Turnips-ick
Yogurt- yucky after taste.
Balloon Arches- they look cheezy, But yes I know how to whip one out.
Peppers- really anything spicy- I'm a mega wimp.
Toob tops- come on NO ONE looks good in them.
Bright orange- I try to like it, but nope, just don't care for it.
Cinnamon candy or gum, yuck.
Lobster, too rich for me.
Black coffee- Too bitter.
Ridico, arugula, kale, mustard greens and other bitter greens.
Robitussin
Cumber-buns- they just look silly.

Ok, that sums it up mostly, now you know what not to get me for my birthday ;)

Cocktail Party

I'm in the mood for a good old fashion cocktail party...my thoughts

To Drink:

Highball, old fashion, and martini glasses...thinking sidecars, mint juleps, and a frufru drink, like a lemon drop and something with bubbles.

Ok I LOVE food, I love to see what other people put together, and little bites of deliciousness is right up my ally. I think it would be fun to have each guest bring an app, no not chips and salsa...but something a little thought and work went into...

To Eat: Mini Beef Wellingtons, Cantaloupe Lollipops with crispy prosciutto, roasted potatoes with chives, bacon and blue cheese.

For Fun: Maybe the cocktail party can have a fun Mustache Bash, and these invitations, and printables would be so cute. Found on Esty here.

I don't know just sounds fun, sounds like an excuse to dress up, and have good company around.

Mama Sarah

Wedding tips for the backyard bride

1. Brides who say they don't want to rent glassware for the beer, I totally get it, do yourself a favor, don't buy red solo cups, not even if red is one of your wedding colors. You don't want your wedding to look like a frat party. If you must go with plastic cups, use some clear ones. The reason you ask, when you look at your wedding photos that red cup will stand out. Don't even have them at your rehearsal dinner, they have a way of migrating to the big show.

2. Order an extra linen, or 2, you know that ugly table you didn't think you were going to need, guess what you'll end up needing it, and you'll want it to match the rest of your wedding.

3. Order extra dessert forks. You say you have them set on the table? Yeah, your Uncle Mark just gave it to the bus boy, who shoved it in with the dirty dishes. Now someone has to wash them quick fast and in a hurry, missing your cake cutting. OK if it's the bus boy, he didn't really care to start with ;)

Looking for Love Laptop Party

Sounds weird or like some type of gimmick. It's not, it is a fun type of party you do with your single friends, ones you know well. You each bring your laptops, and sign up for some dating service, and then you pass the lap top and instead of writing about yourself you write about your friends. No, I didn't come up with this idea, I heard it last night and I thought instead of hating on Valentines day, why not tell your friends why you love them and why someone else would. Heck make it a party with some wine, cheese and chocolate.

Random party finds

Some of my fav local place to find party stuff you wouldn't expect.

The Dollar Tree, yea the one next to RP walmart is ok, but the one in Santa Rosa is GREAT! Vases, tissue, bags, all kinds of random stuff.

The old RP Beverly's, it's the outlet store now, most stuff is 50% off, all the paper lanterns that are the rage at weddings right now are 50% off there, they have crystals, and sticks...yes I said sticks...great stuff on the cheap.

Cost Plus, I like strange things, things you don't find every where.

Tap Plastic-sometimes you just need it.
